BlueInput 1.7.202 + Free licenses

Postby Teksoft » Mon Nov 15, 2010 7:34 pm

With a large number of added features and fixes, including support for Android 2.0 (or newer) Bluetooth SDK, Blueinput is even closer to you, with the latest released version, 1.7.202:
Image

To name just a few of the changes we've been working on:
# Android 2.1 (or newer) compatible, using the Android Bluetooth SDK
# BlueZ and Google Bluetooth API support. The user can choose the interface in Settings panel.
# Application stability improved, with a number of bug-fixes
# Added support for ldpi, mdpi, hdpi screen sizes, and new graphics.
# HID Boot protocol support, this assures enhanced compatibility with various bluetooth keyboards
# LogCat debug option added in Settings panel
# Added support for terminal-like apps (it works with ConnectBot)

This version comes with a free trial option, meaning you can actually use the software for free. Purchase a license only if you like Blueinput and decide to keep it.

Please post any technical issues/problems to this topic: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2625

HTC Desire (Bravo) Android 2.2 (FroYo, teppic ROM)
Unbranded keyboard, works perfectly on my Latitude D810 (Toshiba BT chipset) and my PS3
New version of BlueInput now detects the device, but won't connect. More details in the "issues" board.
I will try to locate an Apple BT keyboard to try.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 with Android 2.1, non-branded keyboard.

Please add automatic keyboard switching when bluetooth pairs with the keyboard (when it's switched on).
A buddy has a Wiimote app that does this when he switches on his Wiimote.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
Android 2.1 OS
I use Devices like the Wiimote with Wiimote app and Mini Bluetooth Keyboard.

I agree with Tuxinator, please add options for automatic keyboard switching when devices connect/disconnect! That'd be pretty slick. :-)

Thanks for taking the time to post these details. If there are no other subscriptions, it's quite clear who gets the licenses.

I wouldn't mind also providing feedback and testing..

EVO Android 2.2 (stock ROM, no rooting).

I justed downloaded the 1.7.202 and tried to get it to work and there is some log option, but not sure where the log file is... I looked over the SD card and perhaps the log file was removed after I remove the software due to it not working.

I hate to install software and have it time out (trial period) while it's not working.

I am an avid Open Source* user (Linux/Ubuntu at home and work) and also a software (and a getting into embedded microcontrollers [MCUs] from Microchip) so I know a little about developing software from assembler/op codes on up to compiled languages and hardware (currently, learning a particular 802.15.4 wireless module from Microchip)

Count me in as willing to give the software a second try .

--Doug

EDIT: *= don't that that mean that I don't mind paying for usable software. I have and do... I was a beta tester before VMWare workstation 1.0 and still a loyal customer.

T-Mobile MyTouch3G (HTC Magic/Sapphire), Android 2.2 (Stock)
Planning on using my Logitech Mediaboard Pro (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-PlayStat ... B000W5RBQE) that I swap off between my PS3 and laptop when I'm at home, will probably expand to another mobile solution after finals this semester.

I feel Teksoft needs to work on how its marketing BlueInput and have a better understanding of how they want to run things, especially during this testing phase. A glance at the app on the marketplace without having much knowledge on BlueInput or Teksoft shows the lack of informing users that the product is still in the testing phase, what the trial will do, and what the user has to do in order to get up and running. As for troubleshooting or participating in the testing, there's no real guide or instruction set/sticky in the forums or website describing this, leaving the testing to the enthusiasts.

As for my experience with BlueInput so far, I've managed to get it to click by toggling my caps lock button, but the connection times out too quickly before I am able to do anything else unless I keep tapping on the caps lock button and switch out to the application I want to type in before the time out. I managed to try a few sentences and am interested to see where this goes as I text way too much for my own good and the on-screen keyboard just isn't going to cut it for those extra long convos.
