BlueMusic on HTC Hermes

Postby rs492 » Fri Oct 06, 2006 5:45 pm

Hi Radu,

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes - I use a couple of other custom plugins on my today screen which were obscuring BlueMusic. I have disabled one and can now see the BlueMusic today plugin.

However when I activate it (by pressing start button, green light symbol appears) the sound does not route to the bluetooth headset, but still comes out via the speakers. This is the same problem that I have had with Bluecast (http://www.simplesmartphone.com/BlueCast/) and BTAudio.

Is BlueMusic definitely compatible with HTC Hermes/SPV M3100 - have you tested it? It is listed as compatible on the postings which you have made so I was hoping that you had fixed these issues experienced by other software of this type...

Any suggestions of how to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

BlueMusic is compatible with the HTC Hermes. Still you need to be careful with the customizations comming from the operators (Orange in your case).

Have you followed the instructions exactly? Please test this scenario:

1) Install BlueMusic
2) Pair the headset with the device. Test it by pressing the main button twice shortly to dial the last number, and press it and keep it pressed for 5-6 seconds as when you open the voice dial
3) Press Start in the today plugin
4) Keep the headset button pressed for 5-6 seconds
5) Start Media player or other sound source and check the headset for the sounds

4) needs to be done only once, after you reset your device. Then you can play only with Start/Stop for switching the voice route. On some devices (HTC universal) 4) is not needed but for your HTC Hermes it is.

Hope this helps,
Radu

Hi Radu

Thanks for your suggestions and efforts.

I have followed exactly the process that you described above (having uninstalled BlueMusic and then reinstalled and done exactly as you suggest).

However I have still not been successful.
- the Jabra BT500 headset that I am using (along with most Jabra headsets) have one combine power/headset button, so in order to activate voice dial I don't press the button for 5-6 seconds (that turns the headset off) but instead I tap the button briefly and this activates voice dial. This is the procedure that I have been using.

- Upon doing this when BlueMusic is activated, I am successful in getting a faint "hissing" from the bluetooth headset to signal that it is somehow in communication with the phone. Moreover this lasts more than a few seconds, so clearly BlueMusic is having some effect in that this communication channel is not being closed out after a few seconds as would ordinarily be the case via voice dial.

- However, when I try to use Windows Media player or any other sound application, sound still plays out of the device speakers.

Thanks for trying - but I think you're right in saying that it is probably an issue with the operator (Orange customizations).

Just posted a compatibility report with the Plantronics Pulsar 590 to http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index. ... &tb=1&pb=1 - could you Teksoft guys check it out and comment / test it?

Hi Menneisyys,

Thanks for the link it was quite interesting.
First I need to say that BlueMusic was never intended to be used with Stereo Headsets, honestly we didn't even tested it with such headsets.

The purpose why we created BlueMusic was to offer a solution for the mono headsets to be used for something more then the regular phone calls. So we only focused on voice routing through Bluetooth for those headsets.

Here are a couple of lines, taken from the FAQ section for BlueMusic:
Will BlueMusic work with the A2DP profile of my Stereo Bluetooth Headset?

BlueMusic is not intended to be used with stereo A2DP headsets, but with the mono bluetooth model headset. The reason is that with the stereo headset you can listen to music from your mobile device by default, but with the cheaper, mono headsets used only for phone calls you can't. So BlueMusic only offers missing functionality for that type of headsets and would be useless for the stereo A2DP. Still, feel free to download the trial version and see how it performs for you / your needs and let us know of the result.

Best regards,
Radu

Thanks - so, the guys at PPCT were absolutely wrong when they stated the app was able to bradcast Hi-Fi stereo stuff to their HT820's (this is why I tested the app at all). Thanks for the info; I link in this thread from PPCT.

Yup, they have just stated it's not stereo.

BTW, any chance of developing an A2DP client for the Pocket PC? :) On the Palm, it's working just great.

Well I need to descriebe some of the internal details.

There is a set of messages that BlueMusic sends to the audio driver to control the voice routing. It is possible that even for the Stereo Headsets those messages could work and trigger the voice routing in a way or another, but as I said this wasn't tested officially as this wasn't BlueMusic's target.

Testing requires a detailed inspection performed at audio driver level for a couple of different pocket pc's running Window Mobile 5.0 in order to understand for each case the mechanism used in triggering the voice routing to the Bluetooth headsets or to the Speaker.

It is very probable that for a next version we will focus on the stereo headsets too.

Cheers,
Radu

That'd be just great! The A2DP incompatibility situation is VERY bad on the PPC.

How do I remove Blue Music

Postby jacquiegardner » Mon Nov 13, 2006 3:03 pm

I would like to remove blue music from my PPC WM5.0 device but it is not listed in the add/remove programs listing of Activesync or in the remove programs listing of the device. What do I remove it?

Thanks.

Hi jacquiegardner,

BlueMusic DOES has an uninstall routine. If this doesn't work for you, as you mentioned before, you can uncheck the BlueMusic plugin in the Today Item list and then delete the folder : \program files\teksoft\BlueMusic on your mobile device.

The shortcuts in Programs can be found at \windows\start menu
